Apriem Advisors had the privilege of sponsoring the 7th annual Jessie Rees Foundation Gala. Driven by the mission to ensure every child fighting cancer has the support and resources to Never Ever Give Up (NEGU), the foundation focuses on the care of children in need. “We will care until there is a cure,” is the motto. The foundation has seen tremendous success with outreach, raising more than $3 million in 2017 and $400,000 at the 2018 Gala.
From the elegant ambiance to the courageous stories of brave families fighting the battle of their lives, the entire night was unforgettable.
One of the most memorable moments came from an 18 year old survivor’s remarkable speech. This young woman had battled cancer into remission three times already in her young life and was told recently that a fourth battle was on the horizon. The pain, suffering and unjustness of the situation was palpable. She described her diligent work in school and her achievements of being admitted to all her top college choices, unfortunately those colleges won’t be her reality in Fall 2018, instead she will attend school closer to home where her family and her doctors will provide the support and care she needs to beat cancer once more.
Despite the heartbreak, this eloquent young woman expressed her gratitude for the Jessie Rees foundation for inspiring her to Never Ever Give Up.
