We sat down with newest members of our team to ask them how their first year with Apriem has been going. They reflected on the unique situation that Covid-19 created when it came to onboarding, learning their roles, and getting to know the rest of the team. Read what they had to say:
Q: What first drew you to Apriem?
“I started out at Apriem as an intern, so that put me in the unique situation of being able to see the day-to-day of the company from an outsiders’ lens. I could tell that there was something about Apriem that set them apart. I really appreciate how everyone works together, is happy to come to work, and is passionate about serving our clients. It was also encouraging to see a leadership team that truly cares about their employees’ well-being and family life. “
“Apriem always looks for ways to give back. The way Apriem came into my life was through their student outreach efforts. I attended various industry events early on throughout my years in college and Apriem always stayed at the top of my mind. I was adamant in joining a workplace that would truly make a difference and through my various encounters with them I felt that is what drives Apriem.”
“I wanted to be seen as more than just the next shift. Coming from a hospital job there was always someone to take my seat and fill my shoes. I wanted to become an integral part of an office and Apriem’s small staff and team culture was the perfect puzzle missing a piece I knew I could fill.”
Q: How was it transitioning to working from home so soon after starting a new job?
“A positive that came out of working from home is how quickly and differently I had to learn my role. It certainly doesn’t replace the value of being in the office with the team every day, but I think it has challenged me to learn in different ways. All that to say, I think the dedication, diligence, and strong communication within the team has really made working from home a success.”
“It is easy to say starting a job during this time is much different than any time in the past. Fortunately for me, Ben, the investment team, along with everyone else in the firm were planning ahead every step of the way. They made my transition into the role feel like that is the way things have always been. Integrating into their process was seamless, and the constant communication made it feel like we were still meeting in person the entire time. I could not have had a better onboarding experience.”
“It was definitely a downer that I couldn’t get to know our clients face to face but it was a good experience as far as addressing challenges in our workflow being remote and streamlining our processes to better serve our clients. I was blown away and grateful to be a part of such a great team while all of this was going on.”
Q: We hear a lot about the “Apriem Family.” How have you experienced the Apriem Family so far?
“The relationships and friendships among the team extend beyond just being “co-workers.” I’ve heard and experienced this too many times to count, and I find that to be a huge blessing. I’ve also experienced the Apriem Family in how our clients are treated. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure our clients have what they need and more.”
“Joining the Apriem family confirmed that my values are no different than those valued in the workplace. The growth of the Apriem family is proof that those values work to improve the lives of our clients. In the same way that Apriem has helped our clients succeed, I feel the same way my personal growth is being fed by the team. I am glad that I can engage with everyone at Apriem daily, it makes it easy to see that we all walk on the same path.”
“We work together on everything. We are a small, quality team that spend hours together every week. Our team values each other not just professionally but personally. We support each other both in and out of the office and it is really a blessing as a new mom coming back to work full time. I am beyond grateful for my Apriem Family.”
Q: How has the team approach expanded your responsibilities / scope of your job description?
“I think the team approach has helped me gain a better understanding of how Apriem runs as a whole. I feel like we are given the opportunity to work closely with other departments because we are such a tight knit team.”
“The team approach is all inclusive! Although I joined the team as a Portfolio Administrator, we all make sure that everyone is at the same level of understanding. We strive to have the ability to know each other’s duties, processes, and necessary knowledge to engage with nearly any given situation we may encounter.”
“When this Pandemic hit, we all adopted multiple hats. We all worked to try and fill in the gaps while also juggling our home life. While learning my job description better, I was also helping with Marketing, chasing a toddler at home, and fielding phone calls from the office.”
Q: What is going to keep you at Apriem?
“The teamwork aspect is one of the biggest things that will keep me at Apriem. I like being part of a team that enjoys working together, wants to see each other succeed, and puts clients first. Apriem’s core values are another thing that will keep me at the firm. I think it is so important to work for a company that shares similar values to your own and I am grateful to have found that at Apriem.”
“I enjoy working at Apriem with a highly esteemed team and find joy in providing a service that positively impacts our clients lives. We all take our duties and responsibilities to our clients in our various roles very seriously. We each communicate our life goals and support one another in turning them into a reality.”
“Apriem has been just simply one of the biggest blessings for me. These people are like my family. This job is meaningful. This company is professional and philanthropic. They value family and people’s best interest is always at the center of everything they do, clients and employees alike. Why would I leave?”
