On September 28th, Apriem Advisors joined an intimate group of 40 generous attendees of the Southern California Hospice Foundation (SCHF) annual fundraiser coined “Cakebread & Candlelight”. Held at the Bungalow in Corona del Mar, guests enjoyed a decadent 5 course meal paired with Cakebread Wines. SCHF is currently raising funds for the 2021 launch and endowment of the Heavenly Home.
The Heavenly Home is the first-of-its-kind residential, end-of-life care home in Orange County. Providing physical and spiritual support in a home-like setting, the Heavenly Home will offer facilities and caregiving to those facing their final journey, giving families the freedom to focus on the things that matter most. Residents will complete their lives in an environment designed to encourage the creation of meaningful moments, reflection, and time spent making lasting memories with those they love.
The five-course dinner was described by SCHF’s special guest, Angel, a 20-year-old on hospice service with a terminal diagnosis of metastatic cancer. Angel dreams of becoming a chef and cook for foster children and is enrolled as a culinary student at Los Angeles Trade Tech College and works for Postmates. SCHF helped Angel’s wish come true of meeting her idol, Gordon Ramsay and Cat Cora.
In attendance with their loved ones were Landon Yoshida (VP-Wealth Management & Principal) and Jennifer Olson (VP-Finance). Guests were given a chance to light a flameless candle inside a paper home symbolizing the Heavenly Home, then hang them on a tree that will be planted in front of the Heavenly Home. “In support of the Heavenly Home project, SCHF will be a beneficiary to Apriem’s 2019 Holiday Drive to provide some of the necessities for the Heavenly Home,” announced Olson.
Through our charitable arm, Apriem Cares, we are proud to partner with and support SCHF. Additionally, Apriem President, Rhonda Ducote has the privilege of being a member of the SCHF advisor board.
